Quawali is an integral part of the Indian tradition of music. LSS brought one of the most famous contemporary quawals of India, Altaf Raja alongwith his troupe for the first time to Ludhiana on 22nd January, 2000 as a part of its series of programmes being held at Nehru Sidhant Kender.
Altaf Raja’s quawalis have been quite popular and the Ludhiana audience was eagerly waiting for a live performance by this energetic and lively artist. Altaf and his troupe presented about a dozen quawalis that kept the audience glued to the seat.
The programme received wide coverage in local dailies and cable networks.
