A play and Kathak Dance Performance by Padamshri Shovana Narayan and Sumit Tandon
Pavan Kumar’s acclaimed book “Yudhisthar and Draupadi” is the story of the relationship between man and woman – a relationship that varies from individual to individual, transient and diverse in intent and content.
Padamshri Shovana Narayan brought the sensitivity of the work to life through her passionate Kathak performance. And driving deep into the recesses of the mind, exploring the emotions that evolve in the singularly peculiar relationship of man and woman, was narrator Sumit Tandon’s precise vocalizations.
Shovana Narayan is a renowned Kathak danseuse and is accredited with the conceptualization of a dance video – “Dance of the Temples” – on the philosophy and legend of the Khajuraho temples. Sumit Tandon is a well-known theatre and television personality, stirring the deepest human chords with his resonating voice and intense expression of what lies beneath, of what lies beyond.
Verse and rhythm, expression and symphony were wedded on stage in reflection of Draupadi’s inner turmoil. The exhilarating performance was held at the Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan at Ludhiana and was sponsored by Ralson (India) Limited.
