Based on Herb Gardner’s spectacular work – ‘I am not Rappaport’, encompassing the entire gamut of the necessary theatre punches like humor, pathos, irony, conflict, melodrama … the Yatrik theatre brought to the people of Ludhiana, what The Outlook described as the “Sahitya Kala Parishad’s Play of the Year”
“I’m not Sheikh Chili” – the Indian adaptation – is a call to our conscience through its true to life portrayal of the pathos and the pain, the struggle for existence and the strength to survive, as manifest in the older generation. The lead characters as seen in Nat and Das reflect the survivors, the fighters of our older generation.
A brilliant screenplay, direction and acting splendor backed the theatrical performance – a compelling comedy with a poignant tale, the play was a perfect example of “meaningful entertainment”. Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam sponsored the performance.
