Rare form of dance KARAKATTAM – a derivative od Mohini Attam. Karagattam is the combination of 2 seperate words – karagam & Aattam and it can be broadly divided into its 2 divisions: Sakthi Karagam & Aatta Karagam. In Sakthi Karagam – the performer has to necessarily undertake fasting for 42 hours to purify himself/herself so that sakthi protects to expose the agility and intricate talents of the performer. Acrobatics similar to Maritial Arts are included in this art form such as:

— Dancing over silver plate, pot, glass bottles, rolling block og wood etc.
— Dancing up & down the ladder
— Spitting out fireballs while dancing with the karagam on his head.

Mr. K. Suresh, born at Madurai and is one of the few dancers upholding this great tradition in India and perform at meenakshi Temple. He is also Record Holder for removal 300 needles from the floor using his eyes in 20 minutes.

This dance is performed in Precinct of temple and is done in North India for the first time.

Mr. Satish Babbar:
He requires no introduction to the art lovers for his strong tradition of Ghazals.Satish Babbar has been performing since 1973 all over the world. His performance through the film industry and Tv serials is well known to all. He has been awarded “begum Akhtar Award” for the Best Ghazal singing in Urdu in 1987.
