Sitar Funk is a young group of extremely talented musicians while Niladri Kumar leads the group with energetic melodies. They fuse Hindi Film Melodies with the Indian Classical music to Western music to create sound which has never been produced before.
Sitar Funk is a unique form of global music.
Sitar: Niladri Kumar – is one of the most talented and sought after misicians in both Indian Classical as well as Fusion and World music categories, star of younger generation of musicians in India. Having played all over the world has helped him develop his music in all different gems of music and can produce most aesthetically amazing sound of music which has mesmerized the audiences world over.
Vocals: Anand Sharma – one of the finest young talented music composers, awarded as the “Surmani” by the Sur Singar Sansad in the year 1993.
Today Anand Sharma is a regular artist on the television and videos. Also, most of the work and music is featured in programmes like Antakshari, Sa-Re-Ga-Ma, Awaaz, Sarhade, Sahara Aakash and many more.
Mridangam: Sridhar Parthasarthi – is probably the only mridangam player to have played both Carnatic Classical as well as Fusion World Music with equal verve, energ and understanding. He is also the member of the group called “SILK” consisting of Louis Banks, Shankar Mahadeven and Sivamani.
Keyboards: Atul Raninga – is a well known programmer as well as a pianist trained under Pandit Tulsidas Borkar, mainstay for many Bollywood hits and has also worked on hit albums with Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Jagjit Singh, Ronu Majumdar to name a few and is a composer and programmer par excellence.
Drums: Mukul Dongrey – is the disciple of no other than the great Trilok Gurtu. He is one of the very few drummers who are at ease with the complex Indian Tala System and has adapted it n his playing. He is a power house performer.
Tabla: Satyajit Talwalkar – Extremely talented energetic tabla player equally at ease in both forms of music, Hindustani Classical as well as fusion.
