– A unique theater presentation based on the rare letters, poems and ghazals of Mirza Ghalib the celebrated Urdu poet of the 19th century.

Letters of Ghalib have become a unique landmark in Urdu prose and his poetry the beacon of his legacy. Ghalib’s imagery comes from the soul and soil of Indian culture. At this extraordinary event Salim Arif will read out Mirza’s letters which reveal a facinating account of the man and his times, assuming the drole os a memoir.

Ghalibnaama is Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam’s proudest presentation coinciding with Mirza Ghalib’s Birthday. The programme had not only brought to you the richness of Ghalib poetry but also the vivid history of 1857 and the era of Mohd. Shah Zafar which is also subject of the epic film ‘The Rising’ by amir Khan. Mirza Ghalib’s Ghazals was been sung by country’s most promising young Ghazal Singer, Jasvinder Singh.

SALIM ARIF Director is trained at the National School of Drama, New Delhi. He has made gis mark on TV as costume designer for ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ and ‘Mirja Ghalib’. He was an associate director in Maachis, Hu-Tu-Tu, and Fiza. Daaman on Sahara TV is his last tele serial as director. Tajmahal ka Tender and Kharaashein made him the most popular director on the Hindi stage.

Salim concieved, designed and authored the show and will read Ghalib’s rare letters on his inimitable style to evoke the images of the poet.

JASVINDER SINGH, a rising staramong the ghazal singers of new generation has proved by the success of his maiden solo album ‘Yours Truly’, was awarded the first prize in the mega finals of the most popular TV musical show SA-RE-GA-MA. His new album ‘Dilkash’ produced by TIPS music company has added to his popularity in the world of ghazal music.

The new star in the horizon of ghazals has mesmerized audiences with his golden voice and received rave reviews throughout the world.
