Shakuntala Mehra is a successful business woman living with her husband Dushyant, who has no significant role either in her personal or in her professional life. Their daughter Deepu married against her mother’s will and is subsequently estranged. Their son Siddharth returns from abroad during his study break and his mother sends him to look after the power plant at Karnal.

Sonia, the girl chosen by the great Shakuntala Mehra as a perfect wife for her is also a childhood friend of Siddharth. Shakuntala plans a big celebration party to announce the engagement of her son to Sonia where she and Dushyant have a tiff as to whether Deepu should be invited or not. Siddharth returns from Karnal and drops a bombshell that he has already married a village girl Suhani whose simplicity had him hooked. Shakuntala Devi allows her to stay but is tracing Suhani’s background while Suhani tries to learn English and adapt to high society lifestyle which generates both, humour and confusion.

Shakuntala discovers that Suhani is an orphan and was involved in a lot of fraud cases and exposes Suhani in front of Siddharth and offers her huge money to leave Siddharth. Bur Siddharth who is in love with her does not leave her. Suhani with her pure heart teams up with father-in-law Dushyant, servant Bansi and Shahuntala’s secretary Pyarelal and creates a situation where Shakuntala has to reunite with her pregnant daughter. Suhani also resolves the disputes at Karnal project which would have otherwise jeopardized the projects.

In short, this girl proves that it’s not only one’s social standing and education that determines ones nature; Life teaches lessons which are far more exemplary. It is during the climax that certain realities are unveiled which provide a unique twist to the tale and put Shakuntala in a fix where she has to make a choice between her long held beliefs and the recent realities that have dawned on her.
