LSS brings Chanakya –one of the most spectacular plays ever staged in India. This magnum opus which has been staged in 400 shows around the world has been adapted in Hindi from original Gujarati version. The play which has been written by Mihir Bhutia and directed by Manoj Joshi.
Monaj Joshi is a well-known actor with roles in Sarfarosh, Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Vivah, Hulchul and Bhool Bhulaiya and award – winning films such as Devdas, Chandni Bar, Satta & Chori Chori. His most memorable role, of course, was that of Inspector Waghmare in “Hungama”.
The play relives the story of Chanakya or Kuatiliya, who was India,s greatest ever statesman and political strategist. He was the architect of the first ever Indian state, which was created out of squabbling kingdoms. He lived thousands of years ago, but his ideas of statecraft – which were articulated in his Arthashastra – are relevant even today.
